While some players have spent full seasons there, many have used the high-A affiliate as a springboard to ascend the minors in a hurry. We saw this with guys like Ronald Acuna Jr., Bryse Wilson, Kyle Muller, Austin Riley, Cristian Pache, and others. As a result, one of the things to watch this coming season will be which players were seemingly placed in high-A with a eye on being moved up quickly as the season goes on. Here is a rundown of the Fire Frogs roster.Pitching StaffTroy Bacon - RHP, Tristan Beck - RHP, Walter Borkovich - RHP, Hayden Deal - LHP, Cutter Dyals - RHP http://www.chicagocubsteamshop.com/authentic-david-ross-jersey , Daysbel Hernandez - RHP, Justin Kelly - LHP, Jon Kennedy - LHP, Sean McLaughlin - RHP, Freddy Tarnok - RHP, Keith Weisenberg - RHP, Brandon White - RHP, Huascar Ynoa - RHPThe big names here are in the rotation where presumably we will see Freddy Tarnok, Tristan Beck, and Huascar Ynoa who are all top 30 Braves prospects. Beck will be in his first season of full season ball and as a older, college draftee that some saw as a first round talent in drafts past, he could easily move up quickly as rotation spots in Double-A and Triple-A become available. Tarnok’s promotion is a pretty fascinating one because after an electric start in Rome’s bullpen in 2018, he was moved into the rotation where he had inconsistent results. However, there may not be a player with more raw arm talent in the Braves system and this promotion seems to indicate that the team likes how he is developing even if he may move slowly. Huascar Ynoa has a good fastball http://www.chicagocubsteamshop.com/authentic-david-ross-jersey , but will have to work on his secondaries...however, the Braves added him to the 40 man roster so how his development is treated will be something to monitor. As for sleeper types, keep an eye on Hayden Deal. A completely unheralded prospect, Deal was lights out for Rome last year with a 2.17 ERA while striking out better than a batter and inning and he keeps the walks down. He started a handful of game for Rome and it will be interesting to see if he sees more time in the rotation in high-A and begins to emerge. Jon Kennedy and Brandon White are two relievers to keep an eye on as well with Kennedy being a tall, imposing lefty and Brandon White having a track record of success as a late inning guy in low-A and may be ready to take the next step before too long. CatchersWilliam Contreras, Zack Soria, Rusber EstradaThe biggest name here is clearly William Contreras who many expect to become one of the top catching prospects in baseball before too long. We like moving him along slowly as not only will the bat need more reps before it will play against true high quality pitching, but giving catchers time to develop their craft and technique is almost always good. He did see some time in high-A last season, so he could force his way to Double-A before too long if he excels.InfieldersRiley Delgado, A.J. Graffanino, Brett Langhorne, Drew Lugbauer, Riley UnroeThe Fire Frogs have two REALLY good defenders in Delgado and Graffanino and it will be important to see who gets the lion’s share of time at shortstop as well as see if their offensive outbursts from last season continue. Drew Lugbauer will now see a healthy amount of time at first base so he can focus on developing as a hitter although he is a guy that can catchor play third in a pinch as well.OutfieldersGreyson Jenista, Shean Michel http://www.chicagocubsteamshop.com/authentic-david-ross-jersey , Jefrey Ramos, Isranel WilsonThe Fire Frogs have a talented outfield to start the season. Greyson Jenista hasn’t shown a ton of power in pro ball just yet, but he has it and with some work on his swing path, he could do some damage even in the homer-suppressing Florida State League. Ramos is a guy that is a bit streaky, but he is a high effort guy and has some pop. Izzy Wilson has all of the raw tools and athleticism one could want in a prospect. 2019 will be an important season to see if he can put it all together finally and improve his hit tool. LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers recent tendency to score late and win often will probably have to continue Monday, whether they want to operate that way or not.The reason is they are facing New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom, who is putting together an historic season despite being on one of the worst teams in the majors. The Dodgers took nine days to erase a 4 1/2-game deficit in the National League West by using their late-inning rally strategy to perfection.Article continues below ...Matt Kemp moved the Dodgers into sole possession of first place in the NL West with a game-ending two-run double off Brad Boxberger to give Los Angeles a 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday. Los Angeles moved into a tie atop the division Saturday when Kemp hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning. The Dodgers won Friday on late home runs from Enrique Hernandez and Justin Turner.“It’s the coaches, the players and just the hyper-focus on each day,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday’s victory. It’s hard to not scoreboard watch and feel that 4 1/2 (games) is not a big number to (overcome). Our goal each day was to just play good baseball.”In order to stay in front in the NL West on their own terms, though, the Dodgers will have to get through deGrom. The right-hander is on a march to possibly win the National League Cy Young Award, even if his 8-8 record seems to suggest otherwise. He will enter with a 1.68 ERA, the third best since 1968.A pair of Mets records could belong to deGrom exclusively by the time Monday’s game ends. He currently has 24 consecutive starts of three earned runs or less, tied with Dwight Gooden (1985) for the longest run in franchise history. His 19 consecutive quality starts are also tied for the most in team history.“He continues to do the job Anthony Rizzo Jersey ,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said, according to mlb.com. “He’s just an all-around player, and the best pitcher in baseball at this point.”The Dodgers can hang their optimism on the fact that the Mets are somehow just 11-16 in games deGrom has started. They can also feel good about their eight victories over their past nine games, as they aim for their sixth consecutive NL West title. At 61-75, the Mets are out of contention in the NL East, but deGrom still has plenty to pitch for. His main competition for a Cy Young Award appears to come from the Nationals’ Max Scherzer, the Rockies’ Kyle Freeland and the Phillies’ Aaron Nola. The competition at present, though, is a Dodgers offense that has surged thanks to hot bats from Manny Machado (nine home runs in 41 games with the Dodgers) and Justin Turner (.402 batting average, 1.213 OPS in August). The Dodgers will call on Alex Wood to start opposite deGrom. The left-hander has worked his way through nagging leg injuries this season but has still managed to post an 8-6 record with a 3.42 ERA.Formerly a member of the NL East when he pitched for the Atlanta Braves, Wood knows the Mets well having made nine starts against them in his six seasons. Wood is 1-3 against New York with a 3.83 ERA.In seven starts against the Dodgers in his career, deGrom still does not have a victory over the West Coast foe. He has a 3.43 ERA against them over 44 2/3 innings.
