Kristaps Porzingis has become a matchup problem in just his second season with the New York Knicks. The 7-3 Porzingis is listed as a power forward, but with his ability to hit mid to long-range jumpers, score on tip-ins and dunks and run the floor like a gazelle, he has created headaches for opposing coaches and their players. The Atlanta Hawks (9-3) will attempt to slow down Porzingis and the Knicks (5-7) Sunday at Madison Square Garden.Porzingis is averaging 20.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. Hes shooting 49 percent from the field, including 40 percent from 3-point range. In a 105-102 win over Detroit on Wednesday, Porzingis scored a career-high 35 points.Porzingis, who finished second to Karl-Anthony Towns for Rookie of the Year last season, is earning praise from coaches around the league.Hes (Porzingis) definitely going to be one of the best players in the league very soon, Washington Wizards coach Scott Brooks told the New York Post. He can score (from) so many spots on the floor. For a guy whos 7-3, puts it on the floor, left, right, mid-range game, step back 3s, gets lobs, offensive rebounds.Hes a great player now. Hes definitely on his way to being an All-Star. Its pretty remarkable to improve so quickly, he said. Hes got point-guard moves. Hes even got a crossover (dribble). On Friday, Porzingis announced he will donate $500 for each of his blocked shots for the rest of the season to the RENS, a New York-area, not-for-profit youth basketball program. Hes averaging 1.2 blocks. The Hawks are one of the early season surprises. Led by power forward Paul Millsap (17.3 ppg, 8 rpg), Atlanta is second in the Eastern Conference and leads the league in turnovers forced (17.6 per game) and ranks second in field-goal percentage (48.0), assists (26.2) and steals (10.2).Dwight Howard has resurrected his career in Atlanta after several pedestrian seasons with the Houston Rockets and one year with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 31-year-old center is fourth in the league in field-goal percentage (.606) and third in rebounding (12.9).The Hawks could be without guard Thabo Sefolosha, who has missed the last two games with a knee sprain. The pesky Sefolosha is third in the league in steals (2.60). Former Knick Tim Hardaway Jr. should get most of those minutes if Sefolosha is a no-go.Center Tiago Splitters return from a Grade 2 hamstring strain that has forced him to miss the start of the season is uncertain.Atlanta is coming off a 100-96 loss to Charlotte on Friday in which they squandered a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. Charlotte took control of the game after Howard was ejected for a flagrant 2 foul with 5:38 remaining and the Hawks leading 89-86. He landed a hard elbow to the jaw of Cody Zeller as the two were battling for rebound position. From there, the Hornets scored nine straight points. That was a momentum shift right there, Millsap said. It just completely turned the game around. They took that and fueled it to the fire, the crowd gets into it and theyre at home. What can you say?Howard insisted the foul was not intentional. Thats basketball, he said.Atlanta plays six of its next seven games on the road. Cole Hamels Jersey . -- Patrick Reed got an early start in golf. Elvis Andrus Jersey . Barcelona also left injured defenders Carles Puyol, Javier Mascherano and Jordi Alba out of its squad for the trip to Glasgow. That means that Marc Bartra will probably start again in the centre of the defence alongside Gerard Pique. Jason Grilli Jersey . -- Three close looks at the bucket, three misses. Rougned Odor Jersey . Defenceman Yannick Weber scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and the Canucks breathed a sigh of relief with a 2-1 win on Saturday night. DETROIT -- An offensive lineman who played back in the 1950s, Dick Stanfel didnt have a lot of stats floating around to help his Hall of Fame case. What he had was people like Marv Levy who were willing to stand up on his behalf.I realize he played so long ago that a lot of the people that are voting now dont even remember the time, but this guy is so deserving, said Levy, the Hall of Fame former coach of the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. I remember going back to Hall of Fame meetings where guys like Gino Marchetti and Artie Donovan would tell me he was the best offensive lineman that ever played.Nearly six decades after the end of his playing career, Stanfel is being enshrined posthumously into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week. In a class of inductees headlined by more recent luminaries Brett Favre and Tony Dungy, Stanfel offers a history lesson -- a chance for fans to learn about and appreciate one of the games standouts from the pre-Super Bowl era.Stanfel played seven seasons with Detroit and Washington, leading the Lions to NFL championships in 1952 and 1953. He earned All-Pro honors five times in his relatively short playing career. You hate to use the word technician, but he was, Hall of Famer Mike Ditka said. Dick was a hell of a football player.Stanfel would eventually work for Ditka, serving on his staff with the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints as part of a coaching career that spanned 40 years.Stanfel died last year at age 87. Hed come close to making the hall in 1993 and 2012, falling short as a finalist. After dads death, we pretty much had resigned ourselves that he would just be forgotten, Stanfels son Rich said.Instead, Stanfel was selected as a finalist again last August by the seniors committee, a couple of months after his death. He was voted in last February and will be enshrined Saturday in Canton, Ohio, with the rest of his class.Rich Stanfel said the family has been ecstatic that Dick finally made it in.Were really happy to be a part of this, he said. Its been pretty much an amazing ride for us right now. After being drafted by the Lions in 1951, Stanfel missed that season with a knee injury. He recovered from that setback and played the next four years with Detroitt.ddddddddddddAfter three seasons with Washington, he ended his playing career at age 31; Redskins coach Joe Kuharich left to go to Notre Dame, and Stanfel went with him as an assistant coach. That type of move would be unusual nowadays -- and the early retirement might have hurt Stanfels Hall of Fame chances -- but Rich Stanfel said the financial ramifications of going from playing to coaching were different then.Im glad dad took that opportunity, Rich Stanfel said. He might not have gotten another opportunity to coach, and he made an entire career of it.Levy, who was the coach at California from 1960-63, hired Stanfel as a line coach. Stanfel had played at the University of San Francisco and was born in the area.He blew me away with how well he taught, said Levy, who will be Stanfels presenter for his enshrinement. I recall one instance when he wasnt happy with how a guard was pulling and trapping an outside linebacker, so he stepped in -- no pads, no helmet -- to demonstrate, and Ive never seen anybody do it better than he did.By the mid-1980s, Stanfel was with the Bears, coaching their offensive line. He was part of Ditkas staff in 1985 when Chicago dominated the league en route to a Super Bowl title. He was the most consummate line coach Ive ever been around, Ditka said. He was a great teacher, and he related to the guys.Stanfel was on Ditkas staff in New Orleans before retiring from coaching after the 1998 season. He could have easily dropped off the radar as a Hall of Fame candidate after that, but Levy in particular wouldnt let it happen.Marv Levy would always come back to that committee when they asked him, `Who do you think should be in? Rich Stanfel said. And hed always, you know: `First and foremost, Dick Stanfel.Levy insists he wasnt alone in the push to help Stanfel reach the Hall of Fame, an effort that at long last has succeeded.I and so many other current Hall of Famers are really elated that this so-well-deserved honor is finally taking place, Levy said. Ive been among many whove campaigned for him.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Cheap Jerseys China NFL Jerseys China NFL Jerseys Wholesale Discount Basketball Jerseys Cheap NHL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Baseball Jerseys Free Shipping Cheapest College Jerseys Sale Cheap Football Jerseys China Nike NFL Jerseys Canada Wholesale NHL Jerseys From China MLB Jerseys Outlet Canada Wholesale NBA Jerseys Canada Store Cheap Soccer Jerseys China Cheap Authentic Jerseys Canada ' ' '
