St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown believes its only a matter of time before manager Tommy Wright is taken by a club in England. The Perth-based businessman says he is realistic about the chances of keeping the Northern Irishman in charge for the long term given the success he has brought to the club. Wright has guided St Johnstone to three consecutive top-six Premiership finishes and won the Scottish Cup since taking over as manager in the summer of 2013. Brown said: His record speaks for itself, Tommy has done a terrific job. At some point unfortunately he will probably get taken down south or somewhere else but thats something that comes with success. St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright (right) and captain Dave Mackay show off the 2013-14 Scottish Cup to the Perth public Asked if a move for Wright was imminent, Brown responded: Not that I am aware of but I think in the English season when you get to November and December a few managers lose their jobs, probably because the transfer window is in January, so that will be the time well be on alert. Its very much a compliment. Hes doing excellent with St Johnstone on the park. Its not just the results, its the way we have been playing as well. We picked up the Scottish Cup a couple of years ago which is the pinnacle of the clubs football history. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. Wright was appointed to the managerial position having been the assistant to Steve Lomas, who left for Millwall in the English Championship, at the end of the 2012/13 campaign. And despite winning the club winning the Scottish Cup for the first time in its history since then, Saints chairman Brown has been left exasperated by the lack of impact their success has had on attendances. Derek McInnes and Steve Lomas both moved to England after successful spells with St Johnstone Its been fantastic over the last five or six years, he said. How we replicate that is very, very difficult. But all aspects of the club are improving. Wed like to get more people to our games but we know the population of Perth is only 40-odd thousand so weve got to be realistic with that percentage.Over the last five or six years the success we have had has been unbelievable, but unfortunately that hasnt been shown in an increase in attendance and thats really frustrating. One way in which St Johnstone are branching out to new supporters is through their newly-formed club Trust. Since being granted charity status in April, The St Johnstone Community Trust has been involved in a number of projects across Perth and Kinross from kids coaching sessions to providing support to people with Alzheimers by reminiscing about old matches and stories. From our point of view and for our club’s size I think it’s essential we engage with the community because if you don’t then there’s no point in being here. Steve Brown, St Johnstone Chairman And Brown hopes this type of involvement not only helps the numbers at McDiarmid Park, but the wider society as a whole. He said: I think that (improving attendances) will be a slow process, we are going to be honest about it. Wed like to think that anybody that comes here, young or old, that they have an affinity with the club. The point of the Trust is to help the community and to look at the health and well-being in our society, especially in kids. The Trust ultimately engages the community and although we are playing in the Premiership, we are a community club. Its vitally important that we engage with all aspects of the community. From our point of view and for our clubs size I think its essential we engage with the community because if you dont then theres no point in being here.We want to broaden across as many activities as we can and engage as many people as we possibly can. WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- No. 6 Wisconsin did everything it could to get back in the College Football Playoff chase Saturday. Its probably going to take more than a blowout at Purdue.T.J. Watt returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown, and the Badgers scored 35 points in the final 8 1/2 minutes of the first half of a 49-20 victory against the lowly Boilermakers. Now comes the hard part: Figuring out if Wisconsin belongs in college footballs Final Four. When we looked at our schedule, we thought that there wasnt one that we couldnt win, quarterback Alex Hornibrook said. We thought we would win every one of them. We did a good job focusing from week to week.To have any chance, the Badgers must keep winning. Wisconsin (9-2, 6-2, No. 7 CFP) has won five straight and can clinch the Big Tens West Division title with a win next weekend. Two more victories, and the Badgers would be right in the mix. But to pull that off, they are going to need a better start than they had against Purdue, when they were hampered by a stagnant ground game, ineffective passing attack and struggling defense. Then coach Paul Chryst inserted fifth-year senior Bart Houston at QB, and everything changed. The opening-day starter immediately led Wisconsin on an 87-yard drive that ended with Alec Ingolds 1-yard plunge for a 7-3 lead. Watt picked off David Blough on the next offensive play.Bradrick Shaw scored on a 7-yard run with 3:03 left in the half. After another Blough interception, Houston hooked up with a wide-open Ingold on a 19-yard TD pass and Shaw added a 33-yard TD run in the last minute of the half. All the Boilermakers (3-8, 1-7) mustered during the stretch was a 75-yard TD pass from Blough to DeAngelo Yancey.I have to do my job, Blough said. I cant do my job just half the time. The turnovers hurt. We cant turn it over and expect to be in the game against one of the top teams in the country. With those two interceptions, it was one big joke with one batted ball and then another batted ball.Corey Clement rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown for Wisconsin.THE TAKEAWAYWisconsin: The Badgers didnt gget the help they needed to wrap up the West, but the win certainly keeps their playoff hopes alive.ddddddddddddPurdue: Theres one week to go in the Boilermakers dismal season. But 18 players and probably most, if not all, of the coaching staff said goodbye to Ross-Ade Stadium in front of a scant crowd.T.J.S SWATSWisconsin linebackers Watt and T.J. Edwards took turns celebrating. In the first half, both deflected Blough passes, came down with the ball and each turnover led to a touchdown. On Purdues opening possession of the second half, Edwards and Watt also came up with sacks of Blough. What a play by T.J. (Watt), Badgers coach Paul Chryst said. To knock it down is a really good play. To get a pick is a really good play.
