Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been named the first unanimous NBA Most Valuable Player, winning the award for a second successive season. Curry is the 11th player in league history to be voted MVP in consecutive seasons and the first guard to do so since Steve Nash in 2004-05 and 2005-06.Curry received 1,310 points from the 130 media voters from the US and Canada, and was followed in the vote by Kawhi Leonard of San Antonio, LeBron James of Cleveland and Oklahoma City team-mates Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. Curry is the first two-time winner in franchise history, and Wilt Chamberlain (1959-60) is the only other Warriors winner. After guiding Golden State to its first championship in 40 years, Currys side took that success even further to finish with 73 regular-season wins to top the mark set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls team that went 72-10.In a stunning overtime performance on Monday night, Curry showed exactly how he can take over a game in a matter of seconds. He returned from a sprained right knee to score 40 points, and 17 more in overtime, in a 132-125 win at Portland to put his team up 3-1 in the Western Conference semi-finals.I figured that hed find his stroke and make a few shots, but I mean that was, that was crazy, said Golden state Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who was voted NBA Coach of the Year last month. Stephen Curry averaged an NBA-best 30.1 points per game The reason Steph [Curry] is as good as he is because he can score from anywhere. If you take away the three he can penetrate and hit the floaters or get to the rim.Curry, now one of the most recognisable athletes worldwide, will be presented with his MVP trophy on Tuesday at Oracle Arena before trying to close out the series against the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Wednesday night. He made a record 402 three-pointers after no player had previously hit 300 in a season. He averaged an NBA-best 30.1 points per game to go with 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds. He also led the NBA with 2.1 steals a game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from 3-point range and 90.8 percent from the foul line. Kolton Miller Jersey . The Capitals 120 points landed them the Presidents Trophy as the NHLs regular-season champion, and they might have made a real run at the Stanley Cup had they not been drawn, because of the leagues convoluted playoff format, against red-hot Pittsburgh in the second round. Still, Washingtons continued improvement didnt go unnoticed in our standings.Whats goodTheir team lost to the Pens for the eighth time in nine postseason tries, but long-suffering Caps fans remain fully behind Trotz, whose coaching rank remains near the top 20 in sports. Ownership continues to climb (now at 19th, seven places over 2015) thanks to the shrewd stewardship of Ted Leonsis, whos as engaged and approachable as any check-signer in hockey. Combined with the thrilling on-ice product -- captain Alex Ovechkin led the league in goals for the fourth straight year, while Braden Holtby won the Vezina Trophy as the NHLs top goalie -- Leonsis attention to detail helped fan relattions (No.dddddddddddd 19) enjoy a two-spot bump.Whats badThe closest the Caps got to a Cup in their 40 seasons was a runner-up finish in 1998, when they got swept by the Red Wings in the finals. Perhaps the decades of postseason disappointments have taken a toll. Whatever the reason, fans in the District are surprisingly fatalistic about their future, with a title track that seems absurdly low (96th!) for a team that finally looked like a legitimate contender last year. Meantime, it still isnt cheap to attend games at the Verizon Center -- the Caps rank just 89th in affordability. Among the 23 U.S.-based NHL teams, only five teams have a higher average ticket price ($71).Whats newAt least Caps fans get value for their money. Ovechkin is the most exciting player in the game. Trotzs up-tempo ethos creates offense. (Washington had a plus-59 goal differential last season, 17 more than the next highest-scoring team.) They lost a league-low eight games last season. And Holtbys otherworldly shot-stopping helped Ovi and Co. allow fewer than 200 goals against, one of three NHL teams to accomplish the feat. Its little surprise, then, that bang for the buck shot up 34 spots from a year ago.Next: New Jersey Devils?| Full rankings Youth NFL Jerseys Cheap Cheap Jerseys Online China Jerseys Wholesale Cheap NFL Hoodies Wholesale NFL T-shirts Stitched Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2020 ' ' '
