Saints coach Sean Payton takes a small measure of comfort in New Orleans’ regular-season sweep of Carolina.
It means the Saints (11-5) play the Panthers (11-5) in the Superdome John Cominsky Jersey , where New Orleans hasn’t lost a playoff game since 1992 and is 4-0 in the postseason under Payton.
Beyond that, however, the Saints coach asserts that teams evolve over the course of a season as they develop chemistry and adjust to roster or positional changes brought on by injuries.
And on Sunday, there will be a different psychology to performing in the postseason, when losing brings the season to a sudden end.
”Each game’s different,” said Payton, whose team took its first NFC South crown since 2011 by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker over Carolina.
”From the midpoint of the season, when (Carolina) got on a roll, you can see the confidence grow with that team. And you’re also talking about a team that (two years ago) was in the Super Bowl Qadree Ollison Jersey ,” Payton said. ”The prior two games don’t matter.”
Payton pointed out that the Panthers not only defeated two of the top teams in the NFL this season – New England and Minnesota – but beat the Patriots on the road.
Carolina coach Ron Rivera doesn’t downplay the significance of those victories.
”I don’t think that is overplayed. I think that is a reality. But at the same time, we are playing against a team that has beat us twice,” Rivera said. ”We have to figure out what went well and improve on that and what went wrong and correct that.”
When the Saints pounded the Panthers by 21 in Carolina in Week 3, it began an eight-game winning streak that vaulted New Orleans atop of the division for good.
When New Orleans topped Carolina by 10 in the dome in Week 13, it ended a Panthers four-game winning streak and was one of only two losses in Carolina’s past nine games.
Their third meeting – also the first playoff clash between them – is loaded with story lines. Here are some of the main ones:
CAM ON THE RUN: The Panthers have been better when quarterback Cam Newton runs the ball. But Newton, Carolina’s leading rusher this season, didn’t run much in two losses to New Orleans, gaining 67 yards on nine carries.
That could change with the season on the line. Newton has averaged 12.5 carries for 59.7 yards per game in Carolina’s past four games.
”That’s my edge,” Newton said. ”I’m comfortable running the football. I feel like I help the team when I’m running the football.”
While Saints All-Pro defensive end Cam Jordan has done well containing the 6-foot-5 Ed Oliver Jersey , 245-pound, fleet-footed Newton in previous meetings, he said he doesn’t exactly enjoy the prospect of having to do so again.
”Who likes facing Cam Newton? I mean, come on,” Jordan said. ”He’s able to escape, spins. He reverse-spins. He pivot-spins. He gets out of the pocket as well as he climbs through the pocket and he’s got some weight to him. I mean, he’s not a frail guy.”
FAMILIAL INSPIRATION: Saints quarterback Drew Brees, whose 72 percent completion rate this season was an NFL record, enters his first playoff game in four years just days after traveling to Texas for the funeral of his 92-year-old grandfather Cody Ford Jersey , Ray Akins, a World War II veteran and long-time high school football coach.
Brees said his two days in Texas was ”obviously very sad” at times, but stressed that he ”really came back energized.”
”Being with my family, and with friends, and with guys that played for my grandfather, and just listening to their stories again, just reemphasizing to me what a great man he was, and what a wise man he was, and just a true American hero Devin Singletary Jersey ,” Brees said.
”He was my hero. I learned so much from him and it just reemphasizes all the important things in life, and the values and morals that I want to live by not only in the way I conduct myself as a family man and in the community, but also as a member of this team.”
DEFENDING THE RUN: The Panthers finished third in the league against the run, but struggled to stop the Saints.
The Pro Bowl running back tandem of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara helped the Saints rush for 149 and 148 yards in two games against Carolina, the two highest rushing totals allowed by Carolina this season.
”We take pride in being good at stopping the run,” Panthers outside linebacker Thomas Davis said. ”If you look at those two games, we flat out didn’t get it done. … It’s uncharacteristic of this defense. This weekend should be a much better showing.”
GETTING HEALTHIER: The Panthers expect to get two key players back on offense – running back Jonathan Stewart and guard Trai Turner.
Stewart sat out last week’s 22-10 loss to Atlanta with back soreness. Turner has missed three games with a concussion.
New Orleans could get starting left tackle Terron Armstead back from a thigh injury that kept him out of last week’s 31-24 loss at Tampa Bay. He practiced on a limited basis this week and was listed as questionable.
Meanwhile, Panthers star tight end Greg Olsen and Saints Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore are slated to play after missing each of the previous two meetings.

The Jaguars will return quarterback Blake Bortles to the starting lineup for the season finale against the Texans, but there’s not much certainty beyond that for the 2014 first-round pick.Bortles is under contract for two more years Dawson Knox Jersey , but getting benched for Cody Kessler is not a great sign of commitment from the team. There are financial issues to deal with on top of the need to find a better options, all of which leaves Bortles feeling like the only thing he can do is play this week and then wait to find out more.“The toughest part about it is you have no idea,” Bortles said. “It’s not like anybody tells me anything or talks to my agent and tells me what they’re going to do with me. It’s kind of just unknown. … Obviously I’m here right now and I’ve got one more opportunity to play this week and finish this year out. They’re in control of what happens to me next. Whatever happens I’ll be ready. I signed a contract here for three years. I have every reason and purpose in my mind to play here for that amount of time or until they let me go, and I’ll figure that out.”Bortles said that sitting and watching while Kessler ran the offense “definitely was a positive as far as a mindset” and he’ll get a chance to show anything he might have learned during the process. That one outing isn’t likely to change any minds about Bortles’ prospects for the future, but leaving on a high note is always preferable to the alternative.
Keanon Lowe was a college football player at Oregon who then had jobs working for coach Chip Kelly as an offensive analyst with the Eagles and 49ers. He now coaches football at Portland’s Parkrose High School Nick Bosa Jersey , and he may have saved students’ lives on Friday.Lowe tackled a student who had a gun at the school, subduing him before any shots were fired and holding him until police arrived, and authorities have called him a hero.“When I signed up to be a Security Guard, Football and Track & Field Coach for Parkrose High School, I did so to guide and coach young people whose shoes I had once been in,” Lowe wrote on Twitter today. “I had no idea L.J. Collier Jersey , that I would one day have to put my life on the line like I did yesterday for my students. When confronted with the test the universe presented me with, I didn’t see any other choice but to act. Thank God, I passed. I’ve spent the last 24 hours being more appreciative of my family and realizing we have a serious problem. I’m blessed to be alive and extremely happy that the students are safe. I’m not sure what’s next, I haven’t had the time to really think about it. But I am sure I want to be a part of the solution to school gun violence. Thank you Portland Police for your help.”Lowe has also been successful coaching at Parkrose: The football team went to the state playoffs this past season, Lowe’s first as the coach, after going winless the previous year. Jamaal Charles is ready to call it a career.Charles http://www.seahawkscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-marquise-blair-jersey , the running back who said in October that he was “probably” retired, will make it official after signing a one-day contract with the Chiefs, according to 610 Sports Radio.Last year Charles played in just two games, for the Jaguars, and totaled seven yards on six carries. So it’s probably safe to say he’s done whether he wanted to keep playing or not.Charles will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024, and he has already started making the case for why he thinks he should get in. Charles averaged 5.38 yards per carry over his career D.K. Metcalf Jersey , the best for any running back in NFL history, and that record will get him some Hall of Fame consideration. Charles is also, along with Jim Brown and Barry Sanders, one of just three players in NFL history to have five seasons with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 5.0 yards per carry.Unfortunately, Charles only had five good seasons in his career; in his other six seasons he never even reached 400 rushing yards. Five seasons will probably not be enough to get him in Canton http://www.seahawkscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-cody-barton-jersey , as spectacular as those five seasons were.
ORCHARD PARK Foster Moreau Jersey , N.Y. (AP)The only time Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen ever felt rattled on his first day of practice was shortly after the session ended Friday. That’s when coach Sean McDermott escorted the first-round pick to the sideline and introduced him to Jim Kelly in what became a meeting of the team’s hopeful future and legendary past.”I’m still shaking from meeting him,” Allen said.Though Allen grew up in central California and played college at Wyoming, the 21-year-old is very aware of who Kelly is and what he means to Buffalo.”It’s all on the wall,” Allen said, pointing the four AFC Championship banners the Kelly-led teams won from 1990-’93.Allen also knows how tough Kelly is in his ongoing battle with cancer.”I can’t say anything else but he’s a special man. He’s been through a lot,” he said. ”And to be in the spirits that he is and to come out here and show support for the Buffalo Bills, that just shows to me how much he means to Buffalo and Buffalo means to him. It’s awesome.”Kelly made a surprise visit for the start of two-day rookie minicamp some six weeks after his latest operation to have cancer removed from his jaw.Kelly walked with a cane and had difficulty speaking. He raised his right thumb while he and Allen posed for pictures. Said Kelly: ”It’s the best thing I can do: Thumbs up.”The Bills are pinning their hopes on Allen to fill what’s been their most unsettled position since Kelly retired following the 1996 season.Buffalo traded up five spots in the draft order to select him with the No. 7 pick two weeks ago. Allen became just the fourth quarterback selected by Buffalo in the first round, and first chosen in the top 10 of the draft order. He joins a team once again shuffling starters after Tyrod Taylor was traded to Cleveland in March despite helping Buffalo to a 9-7 finish and end a 17-year playoff drought. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds Anthony Nelson Jersey , Allen is a raw, but strong-armed and athletic quarterback. He was a two-year starter at Wyoming, where he completed 365 of 649 for 5,066 yards with 44 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.Allen was knocked for his relatively low completion percentage of 56.2 and mechanics, something he spent working on this offseason.McDermott isn’t providing any guarantees in saying Allen will compete for the starting job with offseason free-agent addition A.J. McCarron and second-year player Nathan Peterman.”We’ve got a plan in place for all of our players, and in this case Josh, in terms of bringing them along at the right pace,” McDermott said.Allen threw a few wobbly or high passes to his right. He was far more accurate with passes to his left and over the middle. Allen showed off his strong arm Jeffery Simmons Jersey , by completing several deep passes, including one to rookie seventh-round pick Austin Proehl. He was also intercepted once during one-on-one drills. His hard, high pass over the middle slipped through receiver William Scott’s hands and to a defensive back.”I felt like I’ve made a lot of strides,” Allen said. ”I felt like I put the ball where it needed to be most of the time. Obviously, there’s some throws that I would like back. But as we progress through this rookie minicamp and through the rookie developmental period, I plan to improve every day.”He was pleased in learning how Kelly was overheard praising a few of his throws.Allen said Kelly first contacted him by text in welcoming him to Buffalo the day after being drafted.”Hopefully, in the near future we can keep that relationship going,” Allen said. ”Any rookie that can develop a mentorship with a former quarterback like Jim Kelly Nate Davis Jersey , it’s going to be huge.”NOTES: The Bills signed fourth-round pick, Weber State cornerback Taron Johnson. That leaves their top-three selections unsigned, including third-round pick, Stanford defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. … The Bills also signed 12 undrafted free agents including Arizona guard Gerhard De Beer, who is from South Africa. He was a Pac-12 discuss throwing champion and made the switch to football. … Also signed were defensive linemen Mat Boesen (TCU) and Mike Love (South Florida), linebacker Corey Thompson (LSU), cornerbacks Ryan Carter (Clemson) and Levi Wallace (Alabama), running back Keith Ford (Texas A and M) Tytus Howard Jersey , receivers Robert Foster (Alabama) and Cam Phillips (Virginia Tech), offensive linemen Ike Boettger (Iowa) and Mo Porter (Baylor), and Penn State kicker Tyler Davis.— The Bears are trying to find a kicker they believe will do well under pressure and one of the ways they’re trying to suss that out is by borrowing from the world of golf.Bears head coach Matt Nagy took in The Masters this year and he brought back the idea of “Augusta silence” to the team’s practices. When Chris Blewitt, Elliott Fry and Eddy Piniero are summoned to kick in front of the team, the entire roster goes silent in what Nagy calls an “eerie” scene. While NFL games are rarely silent, special teams coordinator Chris Tabor said the lowering of the volume is designed to “add pressure each and every day.”“It just randomly happens that at some point in practice,” Tabor said, via Kevin Fishbain of TheAthletic.com. “It could be in the middle of a drill Gary Jennings Jr. Jersey , offense and defense, they just have to leave and they go to the side of the field and we put him out there and it’s a pressure-packed situation. Kicker might not know when it’s coming. So therefore how does he handle adversity. ‘They just called me, boom there’s an interception, I’ve got to change gears right now and I’ve got to go out there and kick this game winner.’ And then it’s just, it’s quiet.”Nagy said the team has yet to decide if they’ll bring all three kickers with them to training camp to continue a competition that’s already seen several kickers discarded in the search for one the team can count on come the fall.

(AP) — The Tennessee Titans opened their mandatory minicamp Tuesday with no drama and new left guard Rodger Saffold the lone absence, and he was excused for personal reasons. Not bad considering at least 15 Titans are going into the final year on their contracts, including eight starters.Marcus Mariota already has made it clear he’s ready to “let it ride” this season. Safety Kevin Byard, an All-Pro in 2017, is leaving contract talks to his agent. Other starters in the final year of their contracts include running back Derrick Henry Kyler Murray Jersey , cornerback Logan Ryan, center Ben Jones, linebacker Wesley Woodyard, right tackle Jack Conklin and nose tackle Austin Johnson.Titans coach Mike Vrabel says he only reminds players that this is professional football.“Everybody has got a contract, we all have one,” Vrabel said. “Some guys have years remaining, some guys are going to expire after the end of this year. We understand that. But, we all have a job to do. I was in that position plenty of times as a player, and the only thing I would tell you as my position was as a coach is, you try to do the best job at the job that you have before you start worrying about the next one.”Mariota has to prove that he can be healthier after missing three starts last season. Injuries didn’t stop Philadelphia from signing Carson Wentz to a four-year extension worth $128 million last week. Mariota said Tuesday that he can’t control those things.“I just got to focus on what I can do to help this team out on the field,” Mariota said. “Those things off of it, it’s a business http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-byron-murphy-jersey , and we’ll see what happens.”The Titans have signed players to extensions at the start of the past two training camps. Left tackle Taylor Lewan became the NFL’s highest-paid left tackle at the start of camp after holding out during the team’s mandatory minicamp in June, and tight end Delanie Walker also got a couple more years added to his deal. Defensive lineman Jurrell Casey got his extension at the start of the 2017 training camp.Byard is the prime candidate for an extension now. He hasn’t missed a game since becoming a starter and has 12 career interceptions, three sacks and 246 tackles. Byard insists his focus is working each day while trusting his agent and the Titans.“Both sides are talking and things like that, and I think as of right now I let my agent handle all that stuff,” Byard said Tuesday. “At the end of the day, I’m focused on trying to be a leader for this team by doing that.“I feel like I’m doing everything they’ve asked me to do as far as coming here, be a leader, show up, come to practice every single day. I’m hoping the team rewards me or my teammates … when you come and do what we’re supposed to do.”Henry tied for the AFC lead with 12 touchdowns last season and was second in the AFC with a career-high 1,059 yards rushing. The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner couldn’t have been shorter when asked about his contract.“I don’t worry about that,” Henry said. “Next question.”Ryan missed the last two games of 2018 with a broken leg. The veteran going into his seventh NFL season still is looking for his first interception with Tennessee, though he had a career-high four sacks last season. He said he’s extremely fortunate just to practice during the offseason and enjoy every moment.“We’re all under contract right now Andy Isabella Jersey , and that’s all we can do with it,” Ryan said. “Whether you want a new contract or you don’t, it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is what you do this season. This is a one-season league, make-or-break league every single year. We see it each and every season … So that’s just how this season is, and that’s how this sport works. So we’ve got to be into it this season. That’s a good thing.”Notes: TE Jonnu Smith and Conklin, who both finished last season on injured reserve, were seen working individually after practice ended. … Christion Abercrombie, a Tennessee State football player who needed brain surgery after collapsing on the sideline during a game last September, was at practice Tuesday. Vrabel said Abercrombie’s improvement is “phenomenal” after seeing him while in the hospital after surgery.
The big bats in Arizona’s lineup provided the power http://www.lionsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jahlani-tavai-jersey , the leadoff man the table-setting. The starting pitcher got the Diamondbacks through six innings with minimal damage, the defense had a couple of gems behind him, and the bullpen came through again.
As wins go, this one could not have followed the game plan any better.
David Peralta hit two solo homers, Matt Koch pitched six effective innings in a combined four-hitter and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the New York Mets 6-3 on Thursday night.
”A pretty well-played game start to finish,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. ”That’s the way you think about things before the game.”
Koch (5-3) gave up solo homers to Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto, but only one other hit.
Peralta and Paul Goldschmidt hit solo homers off Jason Vargas (2-5) to help give Arizona a 3-1 lead early. Amed Rosario pulled the Mets within a run on solo homer off Archie Bradley in the eighth inning, but Peralta hit his 14th of the season off Jacob Rhame in the bottom half.
Jake Lamb added a solo shot later in the eighth and Brian Boxberger worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save in NL West-leading Diamondbacks’ sixth win in seven games.
The Mets, like the Diamondbacks, had a strong start to the season, followed by a lull. While Arizona is back on track, winning 12 of 16, New York is not. The Mets failed to score more than three runs for the 10th straight game and lost for the 10th time in 11 games.
”You can’t sit there and think they are never going to come around,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. ”We go out there every day and try to do our best to prepare them and they do the same thing.”
Nimmo at least got the Mets’ trip to the desert started off right Kyler Murray Jersey , hitting a solo homer in the first inning that barely cleared the wall in right. Conforto hit another solo shot off Koch in the sixth, pulling New York to 3-2.
That was about all they could manage against Koch, who allowed two runs before being replaced Yoshihisa Hirano to start the seventh.
”The command was pretty good, the cutter better, the curveball when I needed it, the changeup was off and on a little bit,” Koch said. ”But for the most part it was good.”
Vargas has pitched better since a shaky start to the season, going 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA over his last four starts. He was moved up in the rotation to start against Arizona while Steven Matz deals with a blister on his throwing hand.
Vargas got through five innings against the Diamondbacks, giving up Ketel Marte’s RBI single in the second inning, Goldschmidt’s solo homer in the third and Peralta’s leadoff homer in the fourth
Vargas allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
”I made some good pitches, got out of some jams I out myself into a little bit, but I felt I threw the ball well,” Vargas said.
HIRANO DOMINATING
Hirano has been dominated for the Diamondbacks this season, posting a 1.50 ERA in 32 games. He’s been lights out recently http://www.arizonacardinalsteamonline.com/byron-murphy-jersey , pushing his scoreless streak to 18 games (15 2/3 innings) with a perfect seventh inning.
Hirano reminds Lovullo of fellow Japanese pitcher Koji Uehara, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox while he was the bench coach there.
”They do remind me of one another because they’re fearless, attack the zone, can make pitches in both corners of the zone,” Lovullo said. ”They understand and both have outstanding splits.”
DIAMONDBACKS MOVES
The Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Jorge De La Rosa (Achilles bursitis) from the 10-day disabled list and optioned RHP Silvino Bracho to Triple-A Reno. De La Rosa was 0-2 with a 3.54 ERA in 27 games before going on the DL.
Bracho was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 11 games with Arizona.
TRAINER’S TABLE
Mets: 1B Wilmer Flores went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Single-A St. Lucie Wednesday night, his second rehab game since going on the 10-day DL with a sore lower back on May 28. … OF Jay Bruce was held out of the lineup after aggravating a hip injury Wednesday against Atlanta.
Diamondbacks: OF Steven Souza will continue throwing take live batting practice on Friday as he works his way back from a strained right pectoral muscle.
UP NEXT
Arizona RHP Zack Godley is 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in five home starts this season headed into Friday’s game against the Mets and RHP Seth Lugo.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans are the sixth team since 1980 and the first in 20 years to make the postseason after a 0-3 start.“When you start off 0-3 and you’re sitting here at 10-5 with a chance to win the division on Sunday you’ve done a lot of good things over the course of those games since we were 0-3,” defensive end J.J. Watt said. “But we have to make sure that we do what we need to do to make sure that doesn’t all go to waste.”They’ve lost two of their past three games, capped by Sunday’s 32-30 loss at Philadelphia, but earlier had won nine straight games after their dismal start to turn their season around and reach the playoffs for the fifth time in franchise history and first since 2016.The Texans (10-5) opened with losses to New England, Tennessee and the New York Giants that left them 0-3 and were all close games decided by a total of 15 points.Houston’s rebound began with consecutive three-point wins in overtime against Indianapolis and Dallas before seven-point victories over Buffalo and Jacksonville. The Texans scored their most points of the season the following week in a 42-23 trouncing of the Miami Dolphins. Their next two wins both came by two points after both Denver and Washington missed long field goals in the final seconds of those games. The Texans extended their winning streak to nine games with victories over Tennessee and Cleveland before their first loss since Sept. 23 came in a 24-21 defeat against the Colts on Dec. 9.Houston led early against the New York Jets before falling behind and needing a fourth-quarter rally to get a 29-22 win on Dec. 15.As the Texans prepare to wrap up the regular season with a visit from the Jaguars where they need a win to clinch the AFC South title, here’s a look at the other teams who reached the playoffs after 0-3 starts.1981 NEW YORK JETSNew York’s winless start came thanks to losses to Buffalo, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. The Jets’ first win of the season came in a 33-17 defeat of the Oilers before they played to a 28-28 overtime tie with the Dolphins. They won two in a row after that before a loss to the Seahawks. A season-long five-game winning streak followed before the Seahawks downed them once again. But they bounced back with two wins to wrap up the regular season and finish 10-5-1 and second in the AFC East. They hosted the Bills in the wild-card game and scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit, but came up just short in the 31-27 loss.1982 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERSThis team is different than the others on this list because Tampa Bay’s turnaround from 0-3 to the playoffs came in a season that was shortened to just nine games because of a 57-day strike by the players. Because of the strike the league adopted different rules for qualifying for the playoffs that weren’t tied to division standings, leading to two teams Cleveland (4-5) and Detroit (4-5) making the postseason despite losing records.Tampa Bay won its next two after starting 0-3 before a loss to the Jets. The Buccaneers Andy Isabella Jersey , who were led by quarterback Doug Williams then won their last three regular-season games, capped by a 26-23 overtime victory against the Bears to finish 5-4 and reach the postseason. But just as the Jets had a year before, the Buccaneers fell in the wild-card game when Williams threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, in a 30-17 loss to the Cowboys.1992 SAN DIEGO CHARGERSIt would be a decade until another team opened the season 0-3 to make the playoffs, and the San Diego Chargers stand out on this list because they are the only team to drop their first four games and reach the postseason. The Chargers fell in the huge hole early after Stan Humphries threw eight interceptions with just one TD in the first four games. San Diego got going after that, winning four in a row to reach .500 before its second loss of the season to Kansas City. The Chargers rebounded the next week with a win to start a seven-game streak to end the season at 11-5 and give them the AFC West title. They became the first of these teams to win a playoff game when they beat Kansas City 17-0 in the wild card after the Chiefs beat them twice in the regular season.Their season ended when Humphries threw four interceptions and Dan Marino had three touchdown passes in a 31-0 win by the Dolphins in the divisional round.1995 DETROIT LIONSThe Lions won two in a row after their 0-3 start but then lost their next two to fall to 2-5. Another win followed by their sixth loss came after that before they finally got rolling, winning their last seven regular-season games to finish 10-6 and second in the NFC Central.Barry Sanders ran for 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns that season, with 10 of those scores coming in Detroit’s wins.Detroit met Philadelphia in the wild-card and Sanders managed just 40 yards rushing as Rodney Peete threw three touchdowns to lead the Eagles to a 58-37 win.1998 BUFFALO BILLSFormer Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips coached the 1998 Bills when they turned their season around to reach the playoffs after a 0-3 start. The Bills opened the season with Rob Johnson at quarterback, but Doug Flutie took over during the fifth game when Johnson was injured and helped them to a 31-24 comeback win over the Colts. The next week Flutie made his first NFL start since 1989 and led the Bills to a 17-16 win over the Jaguars for their first loss of the season. Those two wins were part of a five-game streak that came after the winless start. The Bills won four of six after that streak and ended the regular season with a loss to the Jets and a win over the Saints to finish 10-6 and in third place in the AFC East. The Bills lost to Miami 24-17 in the wild card when Flutie threw an interception and they lost four fumbles.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Two leading advocates for retired NFL players have teamed up in pushing for increased pension benefits for pre-1993 retirees. The Pro Football Retired Players Association Darnell Savage Jr. Jersey , a nonprofit chaired by Hall of Famer Jim Brown, donated $100,000 to Fairness for Athletes in Retirement, a nonprofit advocating for pension parity in the upcoming negotiations over the league’s next collective bargaining agreement. The donation follows a pledge of NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith to prioritize retiree benefits in the next labor accord in 2021.Brown called pension disparity “the most pressing issue facing retirees,” and FAIR said it will use the money to continue raising awareness about the plight of some 4,000 pre-1993 retirees.“Despite paving the way for the NFL to become what it is today, players of Jim Brown’s era have been left behind with the lowest pension package among all other major U.S. sports leagues,” FAIR president Lisa Marie Riggins said. “These players have never had league health insurance and retirement income is often consumed by medical expenses. With everything they have contributed to the league and the game, they deserve the security of a pension they can survive on.”Addressing the disparity “would be a paradigm shift of historic proportions for a generation of beloved players,” Riggins said. The league and its union instituted “legacy benefits” in its last accord in 2011 that supplemented pre-93 retirees’ pensions by between $108 and $124 monthly per credited season.Their pensions continue to lag behind those of other sports, however. A 10-year NFL veteran who retired before 1993 receives between $24,000 and $43,560 a year before tax at age 55 http://www.packerscheapstore.com/elgton-jenkins-jersey-cheap , according to FAIR.In contrast, FAIR said a Major League Baseball player who retired after 1980 following a 10-year career receives about $200,000 yearly at age 62 and a 10-year NBA veteran who retired after 1965 receives about $215,000 a year at age 62. The biggest hit of Noel Cuevas‘ young major league career was supposed to be a sacrifice bunt.
The Colorado Rockies and Seattle Mariners were tied at 1 in the seventh inning Saturday, and the Rockies had two men on and one out when Cuevas came to the plate as the No. 9 hitter. He got the sign for a safety squeeze, but fouled off his first bunt attempt.
Instead, Cuevas hit the next pitch over the left-field fence for a three-run homer, giving the Rockies the lead in what would be a 5-1 win.
”I wasn’t happy at that moment that I missed it. We were trying to get that run in,” Cuevas said. ”Next pitch, I can’t remember I just missed a bunt. I need to make sure I’m ready for that pitch and that was it.”
It was the second career home run for Cuevas, who was called up to the Rockies on April 22, and his first since May 14. The three RBI set a career high, and he tied his best mark with three hits in the game. He also had another sacrifice attempt turn into an infield hit to load the bases in the third inning.
Cuevas wasn’t the only one at the bottom of Colorado’s order to have a big day. The Rockies’ No. 6-9 hitters combined to go 9 for 14 with five RBIs.
”All those guys Jace Sternberger Jersey , every one of their at-bats from pitch one, they were ready to hit,” Colorado manager Bud Black said. ”That’s what I saw, all of them.”
The Rockies won their fifth straight despite facing Seattle’s best starter, James Paxton (8-3). Although Paxton was again overpowering at times, striking out nine, he lost for the second time in three starts. He allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings – marking the third time in four starts Paxton allowed at least that many runs and hits.
”I felt really good today. I had good stuff, I felt like I threw the ball well,” he said. ”It was really good other than that one pitch.”
The Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Gonzalez. Segura’s seventh homer tied the score in the fifth.
Reliever Scott Oberg (2-0) earned the win by throwing a perfect sixth inning, striking out two.
Colorado starter Kyle Freeland left after five innings, allowing one run and five hits. It was Freeland’s shortest outing since going four innings on April 18 – he had pitched into the sixth inning or later in his previous 13 starts.

An estimated 2 million people celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles’ long-awaited first Super Bowl win will descend on the city Thursday as the Vince Lombardi trophy is paraded through five miles of jubilant fans.
Democratic Mayor Jim Kenney called on them to celebrate with passion and pride and warned the small ”knucklehead contingent” that caused trouble after Sunday’s 41-33 win over the New England Patriots to stay away.
Officials revealed plans for the parade on Tuesday Jordan Scarlett Jersey , saying fans should expect some dramatic surprises, jumbotrons, free subway rides and 850 portable toilets.
Here’s a look at some of the parade details:
—
THE ROUTE
The team will leave the stadium where the Eagles play in south Philadelphia around 11 a.m., head up Broad Street to City Hall, and along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway before ending up at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s famous ”Rocky” steps.
Fourteen jumbotron screens will dot the route to ensure that revelers don’t miss any of the festivities. Revelers will be entitled to one free Bud Light at about two dozen bars as the beer maker comes through on a promise made to Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson before the season.
—
TRANSPORTATION
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority is offering free service on its two major subway lines, while its commuter lines from the suburbs will run only inbound service in the morning.
Kenney warned people not to drive into the city as dozens of streets will be closed and heavy traffic delays are expected. The city will also enforce a long list of temporary parking restrictions and bicycle routes around the parade will also be inaccessible.

`KNUCKLEHEAD CONTINGENT’
Kenney said he expects Thursday morning’s parade crowd to be calmer than the one that included some people who shattered storefront windows, overturned a car Greedy Williams Jersey , ate horse feces, collapsed a hotel’s awning, hit the city’s police commissioner in the head with a beer bottle, toppled light poles and set off fireworks after the Eagles’ win on Sunday night.
He called that small group of troublemakers ”the knucklehead contingent” and told them to stay home. He said alcoholic beverages would be confiscated, but officials didn’t release any details on how they would limit open containers when faced with such a massive crowd.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace insisted this week he is no fan of smokescreens. Now, it’s time to find out if he was putting one up.The Bears figure to have a chance to add a top running back and core player to a team that won the NFC North in coach Matt Nagy’s first season when they make their first pick of the draft in the third round on Friday night. The first day was as quiet as expected with Pace making no stunning trade to jump into the opening round. But things figure to pick up, with Chicago owning the No. 87 overall pick. That is also when everyone else could find out how serious Pace was Tuesday when he insisted the Bears “feel good” about the running backs they have,“I don’t spend a ton of time and energy into putting out those smokescreens or misleading (information),” said Pace, who was not available for comment on Thursday as the first round wrapped up. “This time of year I think it’s OK to be a little boring in these moments and we can have more thorough discussions after the draft.”Pace might have been putting one up when he dismissed the idea that the Bears were zeroing in on a running back in the draft after trading Jordan Howard to Philadelphia last month.Howard didn’t quite fit in a system favoring pass-catching running backs and set career lows in yards rushing (935) and attempts (250) in his third season. But he still had more combined carries than the running backs currently on Chicago’s roster — Tarik Cohen Ben Powers Jersey , Mike Davis, Taquan Mizzell Sr. and Ryan Nall. Even with receiver Cordarrelle Patterson getting some carries, there still is room for a running back.Pace hasn’t drafted one higher than the fourth round since he was hired in 2015. Howard was a fifth-rounder who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2016 and ran for more than 1,100 yards in each of his first two seasons. If he goes that route at No. 87, his options could include Alabama’s Damien Harris, Penn State’s Miles Sanders, Oklahoma’s Rodney Anderson http://www.ravensfootballauthentics.com/iman-marshall-jersey-authentic , Oklahoma State’s Justice Hill and Iowa State’s David Montgomery. No matter what they do, the Bears came into the draft in a much different spot than they were a year ago. They ended a run of four straight last-place finishes and made the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season. A big catalyst was the blockbuster trade with Oakland for All-Pro edge rusher Khalil Mack. The Bears sent this year’s first-round pick — No. 24 — to the Raiders. They dealt their second-rounder to New England when they traded up in last year’s draft to get receiver Anthony Miller. That leaves Chicago with one pick each in the third, fourth and fifth rounds plus two seventh-rounders.

Biegel also caused Detroit running back Ameer Abdullah to fumble in the red zone, although the Lions got the ball back.Overall, a nice first NFL game for the former Badger Darnell Savage Jr. Jersey , one which will certainly mean more playing time in the future for him.Other notes from Monday’s snap counts:— What in the name of Cedric Benson is going on with the running back rotation? Ty Montgomery, who had just seven offensive snaps in Week 8 against New Orleans, led all Packers running backs in snaps against the Lions with 24. It was the first time Montgomery had the most backfield snaps since Week 3. Recent running back darling Aaron Jones had just 20 snaps (34 percent) after appearing in at least 55 percent of the snaps since Week 4. Rookie Jamaal Williams also got nine snaps in garbage time, his first appearance on offense in three games.— With Martellus Bennett sidelined, tight end Richard Rodgers had a season-high 33 snaps (56 percent). He had not appeared in more than 18 percent of the offensive snaps in any previous game this season. Lance Kendricks also had a season high, with 29 snaps (49 percent).— Cornerback Davon House played every defensive snap for the second time this season. He also did so in Green Bay’s season opener against Seattle.— Linebacker John Ryan appeared in 18 plays (26 percent), his lowest percentage since the Seahawks game when he was in on just five defensive snaps (10 percent).— Rookie cornerback Kevin King played 63 defensive snaps (93 percent), his second-highest total of the season. (AP) — Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints still have one of the league’s top-scoring offenses, but lately it’s the defense that’s been carrying the NFL’s most complete team.On a night when Brees and the offense couldn’t get much going and made some uncharacteristic mistakes Elgton Jenkins Jersey , New Orleans put the clamps on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in a 12-9 victory on Monday night, moving the Saints into position to lock up home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs.“I believe in us, game in and game out, first quarter to fourth quarter,” defensive end Cam Jordan said. “If it comes down to a crucial play, I believe in us.”Article continues below ...The Saints (12-2) held an opponent to 17 points or fewer for a sixth straight game. They limited Newton to 131 yards passing, sacked him four times and forced two turnovers. Carolina (6-8), which lost its sixth straight, had just 247 yards and 13 first downs. The Panthers’ only scores came on a trick play on fourth down and an interception return on a 2-point conversion attempt.“So proud of the defense,” Saints coach Sean Payton said. “I thought they were outstanding. It’s tough to win a division game on the road and we were able to do that.”Alvin Kamara had 103 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown Jace Sternberger Jersey , and Brees had 203 yards passing for the Saints, who took a one-game lead in the NFC over the Rams. The Saints close the season at home against Pittsburgh and Carolina; the Rams visit Arizona and host San Francisco.Newton struggled throwing the ball more than 10 yards downfield because of a lingering sore right shoulder. He said after the game he’s unsure what the injury is, but he mentioned his labrum and rotator cuff as possible issues. He has been limited in practice for weeks and doesn’t have the zip on the ball he normally has.So much for his boast that the Panthers were bringing a cup to steal the “juice” from the Saints.“(Newton) said something along the lines of they brought their own cup, a juice box or something, I don’t know what it was,” Jordan said. “But I do know that he’s got to go back to the refrigerator and pull out a bigger cup.”The Saints swept three games from the Panthers last season and knocked them out of the playoffs, prompting Jordan to send Newton a bottle of red wine in the offseason, while some other teammates gave him a broom. This loss likely ended Carolina’s playoff hopes again.Newton said his shoulder simply isn’t getting better — or worse — and he refused to blame the injury, saying, “I have to be better.”“Our defense played a hell of a game and we have to reward them Dexter Williams Jersey ,” Newton said. “We had two turnovers in the red zone and that comes down to execution.”TRICK PLAYSThe Panthers struck first after offensive coordinator Norv Turner dug into his bag of tricks. On a fourth-and-2 from midfield, Christian McCaffrey got a handoff, took a step toward the line, then stepped back and lofted a perfect pass over the middle to tight end Chris Manhertz, who was 15 yards behind the defense. Manhertz trotted into the end zone for a 50-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead. It was McCaffrey’s first career pass attempt, although he threw two TD passes while at Stanford. He became the first non-QB to throw a TD pass in Panthers history.APPLE’S PICKEli Apple intercepted Newton in the end zone with 10 seconds left in the first half.“I knew they were going to take a shot,” Apple said. “They ran a fade route. I just tried to get my head around and make a play on the ball.”COSTLY TURNOVERSThe Panthers held the Saints in check for most of the third quarter, but the game changed when Panthers receiver D.J. Moore fumbled on an inside handoff. The Saints pounced, capping an 84-yard drive with a 16-yard TD run by Kamara to make it 12-7 early in the fourth quarter. The Saints went for 2, but Brees’ toss was intercepted by Donte Jackson Rock Ya-Sin Jersey , who took it back nearly 100 yards. That wasn’t the only time the Saints cost themselves a scoring opportunity. New Orleans was on the verge of taking the lead late in the second quarter, but James Bradberry intercepted Brees’ tipped pass and returned it to Saints territory. And New Orleans whiffed on a potential game-sealing touchdown when Tommylee Lewis fumbled near the goal line, leading to a touchback that gave Carolina one last chance to tie the game with 1:44 remaining. But the Panthers couldn’t move the ball and turned it over on downs.McCAFFREY SETS MARKMcCaffrey broke DeAngelo Williams’ single-season franchise record of 1,636 yards from scrimmage with a rush in the first quarter. Alex Bregman hit a game-ending two-run double with one out in the ninth inning and the Houston Astros beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 Monday night to match a franchise record with their 12th straight win.
Houston trailed 4-0 after three innings but cut the lead to one entering the ninth.
Sergio Romo (1-2) walked Marwin Gonzalez to start the ninth Dalton Risner Jersey , then allowed a single to Max Stassi. Tony Kemp’s sacrifice bunt moved both runners up, and Houston loaded the bases when George Springer reached on interference by catcher Wilson Ramos.
Bregman then drove a ball that bounced off the wall in left-center. He lifted both arms as he trotted into second base, and teammates mobbed him in the infield.
Collin McHugh (2-0) struck out two in a scoreless ninth for the win on a night Gerrit Cole walked a career-high five to help the Rays build the early lead.
Houston also won 12 straight in 2004 and 1999. The Astros will go for No. 13 on Tuesday with ace Justin Verlander on the mound.
NATIONALS 5, YANKEES 3, 1ST GAME
YANKEES 4, NATIONALS 2, 2ND GAME
WASHINGTON (AP) – Aaron Hicks’ go-ahead two-run homer sparked chants of ”Let’s go, Yankees!” on the road and helped New York beat Washington in the second game of an unusual semi-doubleheader, after pinch-hitter Juan Soto’s tiebreaking two-run shot for the Nationals won the opener.
These games originally were scheduled more than a month ago Drew Lock Jersey , and Game 1 resumed after being suspended because of rain in the middle of the sixth – so technically, Soto managed to homer in a game played before he made his major league debut.
Huh?
The 19-year-old Soto was called up from the minors for the first time five days after Game 1 started on May 15; it picked back up at 3-all and the Nationals about to bat in the bottom of the sixth. After Bryce Harper – who had a full beard back on May 15, when the game began, but was clean-shaven this time – struck out, and Anthony Rendon singled, Soto drove a 97 mph fastball from Chad Green (4-1) to the back of the second deck in right field.
Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer for the Rangers, who won their third straight game. The 45-year-old Colon (4-4) allowed three runs and nine hits in six innings to break a tie with Marichal on the career wins chart.
Only right-hander Dennis Martinez has more victories among pitchers from Latin America. Martinez, a native of Nicaragua, won 245 games in the majors.
Ian Kennedy (1-7) is 1-13 in his last 28 home starts. The Royals have lost seven straight and 13 of 14. They’ve dropped 27 of 37 games at Kauffman Stadium, the worst home record in the majors. Kansas City is 2-14 in June, having been outscored 95-35.
INDIANS 6, WHITE SOX 2
CLEVELAND (AP) – Trevor Bauer shut out Chicago for seven innings before a rain delay ended his night, and Jason Kipnis homered to lead Cleveland over the sliding and sloppy White Sox.
Bauer (6-5) allowed just three hits, struck out eight and was in line to potentially pitch his first shutout. However Will Harris Jersey , the game was halted by rain in the seventh inning for 35 minutes, and manager Terry Francona pulled the right-hander following the delay and 100 pitches.
Roberto Perez drove in two runs off Dylan Covey (3-2) as Cleveland improved to 15-4 in its last 19 home games against Chicago.
The White Sox committed three errors – one by Covey – in the first three innings, lost their fifth straight and dropped a season-high 23 games under .500.
METS 12, ROCKIES 2
DENVER (AP) – Brandon Nimmo homered twice during a huge night at the plate, including an inside-the-park shot to begin the game, and New York finally gave Jacob deGrom some run support in a victory over.
Wilmer Flores and Devin Mesoraco also went deep for New York, which won its their third straight. Nimmo had four hits and set a career high with four RBIs – one night after his go-ahead, two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning staved off defeat for the Mets and rallied them to a win at Arizona.
After pitching in terrible luck for weeks as New York’s hitters slumped, deGrom (5-2) got some help at last. He allowed two runs – one earned – in eight innings to snap a two-game skid and win for the first time in six starts since May 18 against the Diamondbacks.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Left fielder Marcell Ozuna dived for and missed Aaron Altherr’s two-run double with two outs in the 10th inning, allowing Philadelphia to rally past St. Louis.
Tommy Pham hit a solo homer in the top of the 10th, one inning after a wild pitch on a strikeout kept the game going. But the Phillies rallied.
Rhys Hoskins hit a bloop single to start the bottom of the 10th off Matt Bowman (0-2). Odubel Herrera dived headfirst into first to seemingly beat out an infield single, but the play was overturned by a video review. After Carlos Santana was intentionally walked, Bowman struck out Jesmuel Valentin.
Altherr then hit a sinking liner that appeared to skip off Ozuna’s glove before bouncing to the wall.
PIRATES 1, BREWERS 0
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Trevor Williams pitched one-hit ball over seven innings and two Pittsburgh relievers closed out a two-hitter against Milwaukee.
Williams (6-4) struck out seven and walked two for his first victory in a month. Jordy Mercer drove in the lone run with a seventh-inning double, and the Pirates won for the fourth time in five games.
The B The pandemonium that would ensue if Aaron Rodgers ever decided to test free agency would be rivalled perhaps only by when LeBron James took his talents to South Beach in the NBA. Thankfully, at least for Packers fans, Rodgers seems poised to continue his loyalty to the franchise with another extension in the near future. He already has one Super Bowl with Green Bay and wants to bring another to Lambeau. But while Rodgers may not be electing to change up his football scenery T.J. The split was rumoured to be amicable as both of them were at different places in their lives. Not lonely for long, however, Rodgers has since moved on to go around the track with Danica Patrick. But as perfect as Patrick may seem, readers will leave this list wondering how on earth he ever let the stunning Munn walk out of his life. And when he realizes the mistake he's made and needs to come crawling back, that realization may end up hurting him more than any sack he's ever had to take in his career! Although one he took not too long ago actually sidelined him for an entire season. Either way, these 18 photos should serve as a reminder to appreciate something great before it gets away!
The clock is ticking for the Birds to make the most of this opportunity. Many saw the dismissal of Chip Kelly as the moment where the Philadelphia Eagles put a line in the sand not to accept mediocrity and get back to becoming a powerhouse in the NFC. Without a championship to speak of since 1960 http://www.steelersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-diontae-johnson-jersey , the diehard Philly fans are starving for success and the names that are being thrown up for the hot seat are ranging from the exciting to the ridiculous.CSN Philly is already putting the odds out there for the next head coach. As things stand right now, Adam Gase and Pat Shurmur are equal favorites at 3/1 where the likes of Sean McDermott, Doug Pederson, Paul Guenther, Hue Jackson, Matt Patricia and the wily old veteran Tom Coughlin are shortly behind them. All of these men have varying credentials and experience, so deciphering the pros and cons of each of them will be critical to the future of the franchise. The Eagles ended their 2015 campaign in the NFC East at 7-9. Arguably the worst division of the NFL together with the AFC South, Philly will be watching the 2016 Playoffs seeing the Washington Redskins of all teams take the honors in a run to the Super Bowl. To miss out on January action is one thing, missing out to this Redskins side is quite another. This window right now in the New Year is the time where franchises act fast. The best coaching talent that is available won’t be waiting by the phone Justin Layne Jersey , so it’s up to the Eagles hierarchy to tell the supporters that they have a vision for 2016 and beyond and select the man who can position the team for a tilt at the Super Bowl in a few seasons. We know coaches can only work with the cattle they have and the incoming coach will need to ensure that his backroom staff and scouting committee have the right players coming through the front door. But when everything else is on the periphery and the coaching slot is up for grabs, this is Philly’s chance to set the record straight. Here are 15 coaches who can bring the Eagles a championship. SAN DIEGO — There will be a double homecoming Friday night at Petco Park.
Right-hander Joe Musgrove, who was born and raised 20 minutes east of San Diego in El Cajon, will be facing the Padres for the first time as the starter for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
And the Padres will also be back in San Diego for only the third game since June 6. This is also a brief respite. After three games at home this weekend against the Pirates, the Padres hit the road again for six games before returning home on July 9.
A quick check of the math. Between June 6 and July 9, the Padres will play only five games at home against 23 on the road in a span of 32 days.
“I’ve never seen a schedule like this,” said Padres manager Andy Green, whose club is coming off a 2-5 road trip to San Francisco and Texas.
Starting for the Padres Friday will be left-handed rookie Eric Lauer. Like Musgrove, Lauer is a former first-round draft pick.
Musgrove is one of three Pirates pitchers from San Diego County. Trevor Williams will start Saturday night’s game. And Steven Brault http://www.steelersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-benny-snell-jr.-jersey , who was a teammate of Musgrove at Grossmont High in 2010, is in the Pirates’ bullpen.
Musgrove, 25, was the 46th overall pick of the 2011 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Lauer, 23, was the 25th overall pick of the Padres in the 2016 draft.
Musgrove is 2-3 with a 4.59 earned run average in six starts for the Pirates this season. Lauer is 3-4 with a 5.05 ERA in 12 starts for the Padres
Although Musgrove will be facing the Padres for the first time, Lauer made a start against the Pirates earlier this season in Pittsburgh. On May 17, the Pirates scored four runs off Lauer on six hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings.
In seven starts since, the 6-foot-3 Zach Gentry Jersey , 227-pound Lauer is 2-2 with a 3.25 ERA. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Musgrove has struggled recently. He is 0-3 in June with a 7.45 ERA, and he gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks in four innings in his most recent start against Arizona on Saturday.
Lauer has lowered his ERA in each of his last five starts and has given up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts over 12 innings in his last two starts.
Lauer and rookie teammate Joey Lucchesi are two of the first three pitchers to reach the major leagues from the 2016 draft. Lauer was promoted to the Padres from Triple-A El Paso on April 24.
“We expected there would be growing pains with Lauer,” Green said recently. “Two years ago, he was pitching once a week in college (Kent State). Last year, he and Joey were working with five days’ rest between starts. This is an adjustment, being in a five-man rotation. His jump recently has come with blending in his secondary pitches as well as having better command of his fastball.”
As a televised event http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/ben-banogu-jersey , the NFL Draft is loosely organized chaos, a frustrating spectacle geared towards football super fans desperate for any little bit of the sport they love during the seemingly eternal offseason months. It's an event where a pick can be in for two or more minutes, but won't be called because Mel Kiper needs more time to be wrong about 90% of everything. However, for team executives and coaches, it's the most important part of the offseason. Bad teams try to find franchise players to revitalize their stagnant operations (Or if they're the Browns, vitalize them for the first time ever) and good teams search for quality players they can get on the cheap so they can continue their winning ways while avoiding signing overly pricey free agents. With seven rounds to work with, NFL teams have an increased chance of striking gold in the later rounds and it's fairly common for pro-bowlers to come from way down the board (For example, Tom Brady was a 6th round pick and Richard Sherman was a 5th round pick). However, the first round is still the most likely place to strike a premiere player, and while scores of legendary players have come out of the first round, there have been many busts to come from the first 32 picks as well (Ryan Leaf Parris Campbell Jersey , JaMarcus Russell, and Johnny Manziel are basically a super-powered triumvirate of football sorrow). So, without further ado, this list sets out to identify the biggest first round draft busts currently playing in the NFL today. To qualify for this list, a player has to be currently signed to an NFL team, so players like Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, and Justin Gilbert won't be found here. RULES ARE FUN!
