Every NFL team is required to make its key decision makers available to the media before the draft Tavon Young Jersey 2019 , and sometimes some interesting information emerges from those press conferences. But most of the time, coaches and general managers are uninterested in divulging how they really feel about draft prospects.Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta made that clear today. Opening up his pre-draft press conference, DeCosta made a joking acknowledgement of how nothing he said could be trusted.“Thank you everybody for coming White Matt Skura Jersey ,” DeCosta said. “Excited to have you all here today for the liars’ luncheon, as it’s been called.”This is DeCosta’s first draft running the show after being the right-hand man to former Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome for many years. He said that the Ravens have always had a collaborative draft process and this year will be no different.“It doesn’t feel that different, honestly Matt Skura Jersey 2019 ,” DeCosta said. “It’s never just been one person’s decision.”Whatever the Ravens do in the draft, it will be a collaborative decision — and not one they’re in the business of making public. While it is unlikely Bisciotti would fire Harbaugh before the end of the season, that calculation could change if the Ravens record continues to spiral downward.John Harbaugh Outlines Ravens’ Bye-Week PlanThe Ravens schedule has undoubtedly been difficult. If they can stack wins against the Bengals and Raiders after the bye, they should be right in the thick of the wildcard race entering December.
The Panthers didn’t make the mistake the Bengals made this offseason. And it’s nice that they have that luxury now Stitched Ian Thomas Jersey , to make decisions that only pertain to football.According to multiple sources in Carolina’s football operation, the question of whether free agent safety Eric Reid would continue to kneel during the national anthem never came up during their discussions this week. During a free agent visit to Cincinnati earlier this year, Bengals owner Mike Brown asked Reid about his future protest plans. Subsequently, Reid was not signed by the Bengals. In Carolina this week, it was never a factor.Simply put, it’s a move that never would have been made under former owner Jerry Richardson. And while the football operation wants to focus on how much Reid will help a team that lost starting safety Da'Norris Searcy, they know even if they won’t say it that having David Tepper in charge gives them a liberty they never previously enjoyed. (Of course, they haven’t used that liberty to sign the backup quarterback they desperately need, but when you’ve been crawling for 23 years, expecting a sprint is probably unfair.)Richardson had a deeply patriarchal view of his football team Youth Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , and it reflected in the transactions they made. To call the Panthers conservative understates the case profoundly. Richardson bragged to Charlie Rose (in a visual made ironic given each of their future public humiliations) about No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton not being allowed to get tattoos. A fringe player (defensive back Marcus Ball) mysteriously disappeared from the roster after raising his fist last September at the peak of anti-Donald Trump sentiment. Defensive end Julius Peppers stayed in the locker room that day in his own silent protest, but since he’s a future Hall-of-Famer, he remains employed. Richardson’s desire to not risk offending his Old South base (i.e. conservative and white) was woven into the organizational culture, and the Panthers 192-192-1 record in 23 years was a metaphor for many things. But Richardson’s gone, after selling his team in the wake of allegations of workplace misconduct that included racial and sexual harassment. In his place stepped a man who once called the commander in chief “a demented, narcissistic scumbag” and “the father of lies.” While Tepper’s still very supportive of some of Trump’s policies (no one that rich isn’t), he has also been an active proponent for and participant in their efforts for social causes. This week, the Panthers were packing supplies for flood victims in Eastern North Carolina, and Tepper was elbow-to-elbow with players and staffers in the assembly line. He also impressed his players in his first meeting with them after the purchase, telling them that he cared about the issues they cared about Stitched Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , and was serious about allowing them to work for change.Assuming he’s in football shape, Reid should absolutely contribute to a football team that needs him. But whether he does or doesn’t, he already contributes to a culture that has changed, which certainly needed to. And yes, it is designated as a post June-1st cut.Per Ian Rapoport on Twitter, the Carolina Panthers upon finalizing the contract for Daryl Williams this afternoon have released offensive tackle Matt Kalil. The writing was pretty much on the wall since yesterday that this move was incoming, but some reports earlier today (ironically from the same source) indicated that might not be the case.Still, if I understand the situation correctly (and it is a complicated one) Youth Donte Jackson Jersey , from a cap perspective even though the $7 million salary was not going to become guaranteed because he has not yet passed a physical, he was still going to be guaranteed an additional $1 million dollars just for existing by the end of the day today. Rather than let even that happen, Marty Hurney pulled the trigger on cutting the bait, line, and sinker since it was already wrapped around the pier anyway.I still think we would have been better off keeping him on the roster due to the amount of dead money we were going to incur either way, but now the move is made and at the very least, we can stop dwelling on Matt Kalil in about five days or so. Anyway, pour one sip out for Ryan Kalil’s lil bro in your celebrating tonight.
Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is officially inactive for Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.Wright has played in just three games this season due to a knee injury that continues to be bothersome. He had surgery after the team’s third preseason game in August and missed the first six weeks of the season while recovering. He was forced out of last Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams because of the injury.Barkevious Mingo replaced Wright for Seattle against the Rams. Austin Calitro and Shaquem Griffin have also played the position in relief of Wright this season.Cornerback Neiko Thorpe (groin) http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-davon-house-jersey , safety Delano Hill (quadriceps) and defensive end Dion Jordan (knee) are also inactive. All three had been listed as questionable to play. Running back C.J. Prosise, guard Ethan Pocic and defensive tackle Poona Ford are healthy scratches for Seattle. The Green Bay Packers knew they would be without four players when they left Wisconsin on Tuesday. Cornerback Kevin King and wide receiver Randall Cobb are out with hamstring injuries. Safety Kentrell Brice has an ankle injury and linebacker Nick Perry is out with a knee issue. None of the four players made the trip from Green Bay.Guard Lucas Patrick is also out due to a concussion. Quarterback Tim Boyle and offensive lineman Alex Light are the two healthy scratches for Green Bay. Cornerback Bashaud Breeland (groin) and linebacker Blake Martinez (ankle) are both active after being listed as questionable to play.Trevor Davis is also active after being promoted to the active roster this week.Packers-Titans Fantasy Reaction: Adams & MVS trend up, Montgomery trends down The Green Bay Packers got their first taste of preseason action Thursday against the Tennessee Titans and while Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Graham and Randall Cobb sat out, there was still plenty of fantasy implications to look at. With a mixed bag of starters and reserves, the preseason games can be a critical time for a player’s stock to rise or fall. Also, with only one cut down from a 90 to a 53-man roster Womens Tramon Williams Jersey , every play counts.Keep in mind that after one preseason game, someone’s stock rising doesn’t mean you should add them to your big board and vice versa.Stock UpDavante Adams, WRDavante Adams is going to be a WR1 you definitely want this year. He has the most chemistry with Aaron Rodgers of any pass catchers on the roster and on Thursday night, he proved the NFL isn’t ready for how good he’s going to be. He only played during the first quarter, but the deep ball he reeled in along the left sideline over Malcolm Butler looked purely effortless, from the route through the catch. His current average draft position puts him as the sixth WR to be taken in fantasy, leaving Antonio Brown Quinten Rollins Jersey White , DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones and Michael Thomas ahead of him. I’m not sure I like Jones and Thomas ahead of him. Time will tell.Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WRMVS finished with five catches, 101 yards, and a TD which is an exciting stat line, even in a preseason game. He looked like he was going to leave scorch marks on the grass. The Packers drafted him as an option to help stretch the field and he was also returning kicks to the tune of 20 yards a pop. He looked controlled while hauling in a 51-yard bomb and didn’t over run the ball which was nice to see. Not long after that Dean Lowry Jersey , Valdes-Scantling caught a 15-yard touchdown while the defenders arm was still tangled up between his own. It’s tough not to overreact, but this good be a great stepping stone for MVS to build on. Jamaal Williams, RBAaron Jones is out for the first two games of the regular season with a suspension, so that left Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery in the race to earn the starting spot for Week 1. During this preseason game against Tennessee, it looked fairly evident that Williams was going to be the guy. He outpaced Montgomery in touches and remained a factor in the passing game, scoring on a nifty eight-yard TD reception. Running largely behind a backup offensive line, Williams had a tough time finding big holes to run through. Hopefully this improves.Stock DownTy Montgomery Womens Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , RBThis goes without saying since I have Williams’ stock up, but I’m going to say it anyway. Montgomery didn’t get a whole lot of rushing opportunities and had zero catches on two targets. I thought he might see more time as a pass-catching option — considering he used to be a wide out — but the Packers were more preoccupied with their young receivers getting targets. Montgomery outpaced Williams in snap count 29 to 13, but his highlight of the night was in pass protection and really sticking a blitzing linebacker.J’Mon Moore, WRMoore was the first receiver taken by the Packers in the 2018 draft, but he didn’t stand out in this game. He was targeted seven times, but only brought in three of those targets for 27 yards. There were a few times in which Moore was in a good position to make a play on the ball, but just wasn’t able to get it done. It’s only one preseason game and it very well could’ve been jitters. We’ll keep an eye on him. DeAngelo Yancey Jimmy Graham Jersey White , WRYancey is in his second year and spent last season on the practice squad. He’s someone who needs to have a big offseason and produce in both preseason games and during practice. This game wasn’t a big showcase for him (two catches on five targets for 10 yards), so if you’re big on Yancey, you need to hope that he continues to make strides in practice.
Trevor Bauer made plenty of quality pitches Jordan Scarlett Jersey , but it was Cleveland catcher Roberto Perez who made the best throw of the night.
Bauer pitched effectively into the eighth inning as the Indians beat the skidding Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday for a three-game sweep.
With the Royals trailing by one in the eighth, Whit Merrifield hit a leadoff double before Perez nabbed him attempting to steal third.
”It was a huge play,” Bauer said.
Merrifield, the 2017 AL stolen base champion, said he got a good jump
”They executed. I executed,” Merrifield said. ”They got me this time. It was the right play. If I had a chance to do it again, I’d do it again.”
Perez gave credit to Bauer.
”He was thinking he was going to try and steal,” Perez said. ”He called fastball up and in and I thought that was the game right there. That was on Bauer. He hit me right in the chest and I made a strong throw, and (Jose) Ramirez made a good tag on him. I was fired up.”
Michael Brantley had an early RBI double and the Indians scored all their runs in the first three innings on only one hit. Bauer struck out eight and walked one over 7 2/3 innings.
The plummeting Royals have lost six straight and 18 of 21. They have scored four or fewer runs in 25 of their past 26 games and are barely ahead of Baltimore for the worst record in the majors.
After winning on grand slams by Francisco Lindor and Yan Gomes the previous two nights, the Indians managed only four hits – two in the ninth inning.
Bauer (8-6) has struck out eight or more in eight consecutive starts. He allowed seven hits, six of them singles, and is 3-1 in his past four starts.
”It was frustrating in a lot of ways and I was happy the team won,” Bauer said. ”I made some good pitches and gave up some weak hits. I had too many two-strike pitches put into play. I need to clean that up.”
Cody Allen worked the ninth to earn his 18th save in 19 chances. It was his 140th career save, breaking a tie with Bob Wickman for the club record.
Lindor walked to start the game, stole second and scored on Brantley’s double. Brantley went to third on Ramirez’s flyout and scored on Edwin Encarnacion’s sacrifice fly.
The Indians manufactured a run without a hit in the second. Jason Kipnis and Tyler Naquin opened the inning with walks. Perez advanced both with a sacrifice bunt, and Greg Allen delivered a sacrifice fly.
Kansas City used a double steal to create a run in the second. Alex Gordon, who was hit by a pitch Greedy Williams Jersey , and Hunter Dozier, who reached on an infield single, were at the corners with two outs. They pulled off a successful double steal, with Gordon scoring. It was Dozier’s first career steal.
The last Royals player to steal home was Alex Rios on July 20, 2015, against Pittsburgh, also as part of a double steal.
Alcides Escobar singled in the Kansas City fifth and advanced to third on Drew Butera’s one-out single. Escobar scored on Merrifield’s sacrifice fly.
Royals starter Trevor Oaks (0-2), recalled from Triple-A Omaha to take Ian Kennedy’s spot in the rotation, was removed after four innings and 73 pitches. He allowed three runs on two hits and four walks.
”The leadoff walks and not having good command, just really frustrating when I’ve walked like one or two guys an outing and now I’m back to four,” Oaks said.
Oaks had a 0.62 ERA in his last seven Triple-A starts. Kennedy went on the disabled list with a strained left oblique.
THE HOT CORNER
Dozier made his first big league start at third base. Dozier played 401 games at third, starting 281, in the Royals’ minor league system. He had started 35 games at first base, two in right field and two as the DH this season.

Wilmer Font became the latest pitcher to slow down the New York Yankees.
Font worked into the sixth inning to get his first major league win, Willy Adames homered and the Tampa Bay Rays blanked the Yankees 4-0 Saturday.
Font (1-3) allowed three hits, one walk and struck out four over 5 2/3 innings. Four relievers completed a four-hitter.
”Just an awesome performance by him and the rest of the guys,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said.
The Rays have won the first two of a three-game series against the Yankees, who have the best record in the majors.
New York has scored just once in its last 25 innings.
”It’s amazing,” Font said. ”It’s the second win in a row for us. Perfect.”
Adames had an RBI single during a two-run second and added a solo homer in the seventh off Sonny Gray (5-5).
New York (50-24), coming off a three-game sweep over Seattle, is the only team in the big leagues that hasn’t dropped more than two straight games this year. This is the latest the Yankees have gone into a season without losing three in a row since August 1954.
”You do shrug it off,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. ”We also know you turn the page and really lock in. Come in with urgency and expect to get a `W.”’
Gray gave up four runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
After Jake Bauers had a first-inning RBI double, Tampa Bay took a 3-0 lead in the second when Daniel Robertson hit a run-scoring double and scored on Adames’ single.
”Definitely uplifting,” Rays reliever Sergio Romo said. ”It’s something we can feed off of Ben Powers Jersey , most definitely.”
The Yankees had one hit in eight at-bats with runners in scoring position, including three unsuccessful tries in both the second and third innings.
New York was limited to five hits and went 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position in a 2-1 loss Friday night.
”It’s been two games,” Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius said. ”So, I don’t think it’s really, like, a big deal.”
TANAKA TIME
Yankees RHP Masahiro Tanaka, on the 10-day disabled since June 9 with strained left and right hamstrings, will have his first bullpen session Sunday and may start a simulated game Friday. ”If you look back two weeks ago there was no way I would be able to move the way that I did today,” Tanaka said through a translator. ”It’s definitely better.”

NUMBERS
Rays 1B C.J. Cron doubled in four at-bats and is 5 for his last 57. The other four hits were homers. . Tampa Bay CF Kevin Kiermaier is 1 for 16 in four games since coming back from right thumb surgery.
HOME COOKING

Sam Darnold had nowhere to go but up after his first career snap. The rookie quarterback steadied himself quickly.Darnold threw an interception on his very first NFL play Barry Sanders Jersey , and Detroit's Quandre Diggs returned it 37 yards for a touchdown to give the Lions an early lead over the New York Jets on Monday night. But by halftime, the Jets were up 17-10, and Darnold's debut was looking a lot better.Darnold was 11 of 15 for 122 yards after two quarters. That included a 41-yard touchdown pass to Robby Anderson in the second quarter.Despite the promising start, the Lions were booed by the home fans throughout the first half. Matthew Stafford threw two interceptions.Darnold was drafted with the third overall pick this year, and he earned the start in the season opener for the Jets. But his first throw looked ill-advised from the moment it left his hand, floating toward the left sideline, where Diggs picked it off.Darnold does have some company, at least. Jameis Winston had his first pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown in 2015. New,31commentsOne NFL player thinks the league should be doing more, so we delve into what resources the players have.EDTShareTweetShareShareMental health in the NFL, Part 2: Is the league doing enough? Wednesday we spoke with Detroit Lions linebacker Eli Harold about how masculinity can have a lot of bad effects on men dealing with mental health. We also learned that he believes the stigmas regarding mental health in the NFL are largely gone. Today we’ll talk with Lions defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois about why he feels differently, and what you can do to help those dealing with mental health issues, even if you don’t have them. The mental health community doesn’t require that you have a disorder to help. You can be a regular Joe — or, say Taylor Decker Jersey , a member of the military or an NFL player — to aid those with mental health disorders. That’s what Lions defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois and his sister Major Villiana Jean Francois are doing. Ricky went to Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia this past summer to talk with current and former military members about mental health and suicide prevention. While there, he also filmed a PSA that aired on the Armed Forces Network during Super Bowl LIII. “I knew how important it was in the NFL, because we talk about it all the time with CTE and so many other things,” Francois said. “But just to see it from the outside from military to everyday people, it was crazy just to know what other people go through everyday.”Outside of his work with the armed forces, Francois speaks with others who cope with mental health disorders everyday. He makes sure to keep in contact with some of them, and takes pleasure in seeing them get better every day.Francois has a different opinion on how the NFL handles mental health than Harold, however. He doesn’t believe the league is taking mental health seriously enough. “The Lions probably are A’Shawn Robinson Jersey , but I believe the NFL—and I ain’t trying to take no stab at them—I don’t really believe they’re working with mental health,” Francois said. “There’s just been so many players we done had throughout our career that we’ve seen gone like Junior Seau. I could go down the list of other people, but it’s like that health never came. You never sat there and tried to help them.“Just because you think think they had the fame, the Pro Bowls, the All Pros, you think they’re good and successful. But, at the same time, they live normal lives just like you and me. Once they leave these symbols Graham Glasgow Jersey , these logos alone, now that you’re outside the building you have to deal with who you really are. And I don’t believe the NFL takes that next step to have somebody willing to sit there and help you and communicate with you.” According to Francois, the Lions have multiple mental health professionals on staff to assist players and listen to them. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, those professionals requested to not discuss specifics with me. Ricky is not alone in this. While the NFL did not give us any answers on how they deal with current players with mental health, the NFLPA did. The association’s communications manager Brandon Parker showed the NFLPA’s new mental health campaign Your Mind, Your Body, Your Health. Formed in May 2017, the campaign is designed to promote overall wellness among both current and former NFL players. Perhaps the biggest thing the campaign does is open up the conversation and debunk many of the myths and stigmas that are often attached to mental health disorders. Much like we discussed in the first part of this series Jake Rudock Jersey , stigmas play a big role in the mental health conversation. The idea that having a mental health issues is a weakness is still something that some feel today. The stigmas have been strong for a long time around the league, strong enough to make players keep things to themselves. The campaign’s goal is to help explain mental health disorders and deconstruct every single stigma and myth one by one. The campaign also provides players with many resources to get help. Not only does the NFLPA offer their own NFL Lifeline hotline where players can call and discuss what they’re feeling, they also provide the number for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and direct players to major mental health programs like Active Minds, an online organization that assists current and former students in coping with their mental health issues. Part 3 delves into mental health issues for athletes after their football careers are over. Read it here.
Falcons vs. Eagles: Thursday Night Football channel Stitched Mohamed Sanu Jersey , time, announcers and more The 2018 season will kick off with a game between two of the NFL’s best rosters, which seems fitting enough. A replacement for Adam Humphries?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections 2016 NFL DraftInjuriesFree AgencyGame FilmWhat Receiver Scotty Miller Brings to the BucsNew,12commentsA replacement for Adam Humphries?EDTShareTweetShareShareWhat Receiver Scotty Miller Brings to the BucsAdam Hagy-USA TODAY SportsWith the 208th pick the Bucs took Bowling Green wide receiver Scotty Miller. Miller started three years for the Falcons, piling up over 2,300 yards and 23 touchdowns. In his senior season he had over 16 yards per catch and was 1st-team All-MAC. He also ran kickoffs back. So what kind of player are the Bucs getting? Miller looks like the heir apparent to Adam Humphries, who left in free agency. Miller isn’t very big - just 5’11 (or 5’09 Vita Vea Jersey , depending on who you ask) and 174 pounds when wet, but with that kind of speed he could be a pretty good space player at the next level. Miller is a former track athlete, and it shows: 4.39 is flying, and Miller’s 10-yard split is 1.51 seconds. For reference, Humphries ran a 4.53 40-yard dash when he came out of Clemson, with a 1.59 second 10-yard split. To give you an idea of their respective agility, Humphries ran the short shuttle at 4.32 seconds, and Miller did it in 4.02. So the athleticism there is promising. Miller definitely has burst and speed to gain separation. The questions will be Carlton Davis Jersey , can Miller’s body withstand NFL punishment, and will a small catch radius pose problems for quarterback Jameis Winston? Also, with Miller’s relative lack of size and strength, he’ll probably have some issues beating the press. But he’s tough and smart, and he’s got a chance. At the very least, Miller will compete with Justin Watson for the starting slot receiver role vacated by Humphries.
Andy Dalton has turned into a big pain for the Baltimore Ravens. He threw four touchdown passes on Thursday night — three of them to A.J. Green — as the Cincinnati Bengals got ahead big and held on for a 34-23 victory that left them alone atop the AFC North. It's an unaccustomed spot for Cincinnati Jeff Driskel Jersey , which is off to its first 2-0 start since it won the division title in 2015.Coach Marvin Lewis received a contract extension in part because of Dalton's 49-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd in the closing seconds of the final game at Baltimore last season, which gave the Bengals a victory and knocked the Ravens out of playoff contention. Dalton made the big plays again on Thursday, leaving the Ravens (1-1) too far behind to catch up."We came out hot," Dalton said. "That's exactly how we wanted to start the game. That's a big one — puts us 2-0 to start the year and gives us a leg up in the division."Down by 21 points, the Ravens made a run at it behind Joe Flacco, who threw a pair of touchdown passes. Flacco fumbled with 2:42 to go — Shawn Williams stripped the ball from behind — setting up a field goal by Randy Bullock that closed it out.Flacco finished 32 of 55 for 376 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions , a fumble and four sacks."You better bounce back quick on a Thursday night and we didn't do it quick enough tonight," Flacco said. Some takeaways from Cincinnati's win:SEEING GREEN: Green set a career high with his touchdown catches of 4 Shawn Williams Jersey , 32 and 7 yards. He became the fourth Bengals receiver to catch three TD passes in a half, joining Marvin Jones (2013), Chad Johnson (2003) and Isaac Curtis (1973). Green was upset with himself after fumbling twice in a 34-23 win at Indianapolis on Sunday, and he caught everything thrown his way early on."It just happened to fall that way," Green said. "We were clicking on all cylinders. We were in a groove."DALTON'S DAY: Heading into the game, Dalton had thrown more interceptions (17) than touchdowns (15) against the Ravens, including a four-interception performance at Paul Brown Stadium last year. He finished 24 of 42 for 265 yards with no interceptions and no sacks. It was the fourth time he's thrown four touchdown passes in a game. His career high is five against the Jets in 2013.NOT THE BILLS: The Ravens were coming off their third-most lopsided win in club history, a 47-3 victory over Buffalo on Sunday. Flacco was sharp in two-plus quarters, throwing touchdown passes to three different receivers. But the Bengals gave him a tough time early Darqueze Dennard Jersey , sacking him on each of Baltimore's first three possessions and forcing a pass that was picked off."It was tough sledding early on, and we weren't very precise," Flacco said.FAST START: The Bengals are 2-0 for only the fifth time in Lewis' 16 seasons. They're the first team to score at least 34 points in each of their first two games since the 2013 Broncos, who reached the Super Bowl, according to ESPN Stats & Info.MISSING MOSLEY: Ravens middle linebacker C.J. Mosley left in the first quarter with a bruised knee. Coach John Harbaugh said an MRI found no ligament damage. The Ravens have two rookies as backup linebackers, Kenny Young and Chris Board."They didn't play perfect," Harbaugh said. "That's going to hurt you for sure, and it did. It hurt mainly in coverage more than anything." Word that the Bengals were releasing linebacker Vontaze Burfict was reported by several sources on Monday and the Bengals made the move official a few hours later.Burfict spent the last seven seasons in Cincinnati and had both highs and lows during his time in Cincinnati. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and was a key part of the defense on several playoff teams, but the positives were mitigated by penalties and suspensions for dirty play. The Bengals opted to move in a new direction at head coach this offseason by hiring Zac Taylor after Marvin Lewis’ long run in the job came to an end. Taylor said in a statement that the decision to part ways with Burfict represented another fresh start.“As we continue to build our roster for the 2019 season Giovani Bernard Jersey , we felt it best to give both the team and Vontaze a fresh start,” Taylor said. “Vontaze has been a good player here — the team appreciates that, and I know a lot of fans appreciate that — but our focus is on the future. Our goal is to build a successful team for the upcoming season, and we felt that making this change now was best for everyone.”Burfict’s feelings on the matter might be related to how quickly he lands with another team, but it’s clear that the Bengals are happy to start taking things in a different direction.
Wednesday http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic...aroppolo-jersey , May 29th, 2019 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet"The last time the 49ers were a playoff team, the defensive line had the likes of Aldon Smith, Justin Smith, Ahmad Brooks, and company. That line was able to put a lot of a pressure on QBs and caused all sorts of issues for offensives that allowed the defense to excel. Current 49ers GM John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan are trying to build a defensive line that is as formidable as that line. The defensive line has been rebuilding for a few years with high draft picks, but it has not produced consistently other than DeForest Buckner. The offseason was used to add the final pieces that the defensive line needed. The team was lacking pass rushers on the edge, but 2 of the biggest additions should address that need. Dee Ford was signed as a free agent after having an excellent year last season with the Kansas City Chiefs and Nick Bosa was drafted with the #2 overall pick in the draft. If either or both of these players can generate a pass rush and DeForest continues to play like a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, this defense can be a top NFL defense. On Tuesday, the 49ers made a set of roster moves. Former offensive lineman Anthony Davis, who is trying to make a comeback, was released as was linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, a sixth round pick by the 49ers from 2017. The team resigned their former cornerback Dontae Johnson. Dontae spent the last year with the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He left the 49ers after the 2017 season. 49ers linksWas a big need and hopefully it finally produces this season | Defensive front 4 was a priority this offseason (Biderman)Facing better talent will help the 2nd year lineman | Mike McGlinchey going up against a revamped d-line (Smith)Start of the 2nd week of OTAs (Maiocco)Kayvon Webster (Alper)Both spots are up for grabs | Safety battles (Madson)Kayvon Webster in for a workout (Branch)Team releases Anthony Davis (Williams)Anthony Davis seeks reinstatement, cut by team (Madson)Still looking for depth in the secondary (Madson)Dontae is making his return | Pita cut K'Waun Williams Jersey , Dontae Johnson resigned (Inman)Roster moves (49ers staff)Former 49er returns (Biderman)Can Dontae make the final roster? | Dontae Johnson returns (Branch)Joe should absolutely end his career as a 49er | Joe Staley (Williams) An Ohio State perspective on the 49ers first-round draft pick"We can dissect the San Francisco 49ers No. 2 overall pick Nick Bosa all we want. There will still be plenty of details we just don’t know. Patrick Mayhorn of Land-Grant Holy Landwas kind enough to take time and answer six questions about Bosa.1) Kyle Shanahan talked about how Bosa’s teammates felt about him. What was Bosa’s reputation around campus/teammates?Patrick: I can’t speak to his reputation around campus, but by all accounts he was well liked by his teammates at Ohio State. The team welcomed him back with open arms at their pre-Rose Bowl practices when he visited, and he seemed to be pretty popular with everyone.2) I know he came in as one of the highest recruits, but how long did it take for you to realize Bosa was the real deal?Patrick: Nick pretty much came to Ohio State as the player he is now. Obviously he fine tuned his game with Larry Johnson, but he was pretty dominant right away. It took a year for him to see truly significant playing time (though he played plenty as a freshman), but he was ready to go from day one.3) Okay, Bosa can’t be perfect. He had to do something during his three years at Ohio State on the field that caused some sort of concern. What was that?Patrick: He struggles with long, athletic tackles. The best example of this is probably the 2017 game against Oklahoma, where Orlando Brown and Bobby Evans took turns shutting Bosa down. He just doesn’t have the natural athletic ability or length to counter a player like that, so hyper-athletic tackles can cause him some issues.4) Is the comparison to big brother Joey fair and why?Patrick: The comparison is completely fair. Like Nick, Joey came to Ohio State essentially as a finished product, and they had essentially the same career in Columbus. Their skill sets are almost identically, and I’d be shocked if there’s any noticeable difference between them as NFL players.5) What’s the best part Bosa’s game?Patrick: His technical skill is outstanding. He’s an extremely smart player, and there really aren’t many linemen more technically gifted than the Bosa brothers. He has the full arsenal of moves and can use them to break down almost any tackle he faces.6) Bosa has to do what to live up to the hype/his draft status?Really, he just has to keep playing his game. He comes in as finished a product as any player in the draft, and I think he’ll be an all-pro caliber player for years as long as he can stay healthy.
